Born in Bournemouth, Michaela spent a large proportion of her earlier life travelling extensively, living and working abroad, before settling in Leicestershire thirty years ago - a county where the countryside is famous for having inspired many artists in the past – and expanding her own repertoire and techniques.

At one time primarily an equestrian artist, Michaela now includes all other animals, trains, ships and ‘planes as well as landscapes – indeed almost any subject.  For many years she also specialised in exterior sign work, with hundreds of her inn signs hanging all over England.  Sign work also includes house name signs, etc. all featuring a high degree of accuracy derived from thorough research of the subject.

Prices are reasonable and Michaela hopes you will telephone or email to discuss cost without obligation, rather than being put off by the fear of “expensive” artwork.  To give you an idea, pet portraits to the calibre of those shown on this website start at £50.00.  Railway scenes, cars and even restored tractors have been committed to oil-on-canvas as birthday or Christmas presents for family members.  A painting as a gift is always a delightful surprise.

All her work is in oils.  From the samples displayed in this, her online gallery, you will note that the style is predominantly traditional and realistic with attention to detail.  Indeed Michaela’s desire for realism in her work led her to venture into trompe l’oeil (an art form where perspective and light and shade create an illusion of reality) and many homes now have Michaela to thank for their own examples of this skill in their kitchens, nurseries, sitting rooms, etc.

Trompe l’oeil can be an expensive form of art, but again Michaela’s prices are very reasonable and small examples can be created for as little as £60.00 or even less, going on up to the much larger scenes where a biggish one could be about £600.

To facilitate your viewing of the several exhibits available here they are displayed in ten individual sections for your convenience and are accessed from the links on the left in the extensive Art-by-Kelly catalogue.
